To mark our Nature edition due for publication in the Autumn, we’re running a flash fiction competition themed on Nature open to all to submit. Judging the competition will be our flash fiction editor and masterclass tutorCatherine McNamara

Dates: Submissions are accepted from June 14th to July 14th

Prize: The winner will be announced in August and will published in the print edition, online and receive a free spot in Catherine McNamara's autumn Flash Fiction course. 


  • Your piece should be capped at 600 words maximum.
  • Let your imagination run wild with the theme. Think outside the box.
  • All submitted work must be your own.
  • Please submit only one piece.
  • This competition is open to anyone in the world, but all entries must be in English and wholly original.
  • All entries must be previously unpublished (this includes not previously appearing on your website, blog or self-published book). 
  • Stories must not have been previously submitted in any way to Litro. 
  • Your story cannot have won in a previous competition.
  • If chosen, you agree to have your story published in Litro print and online. Copyright remains with the Litro for a period of a year.
  • The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
